SPEAKER TO LOOK AT DIVERSITY AND CONDITION OF STREAM LIFE

FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge Parkway Co-sponsor of Environmental Lectures Series

Steve Fraley, an aquatic biologist with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, will speak on "Aquatic Fauna in Western North Carolina - Past, Present, and Future," at 4 p.m., Monday, February 6, in Room 104 of the Highsmith University Center on the UNCA campus. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Fraley studies and monitors nongame aquatic species, including rare fish and mussels, in the western region of North Carolina. He studied under Dr.

David Etnier at the University of Tennessee, the region's premier fish biologist, and was an aquatic biologist for the Tennessee Valley Authority before coming to North Carolina.

The presentation is the fourth in the 2005-06 Environmental Lecture Series sponsored by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, UNCA Department of Environmental Studies, USDA Forest Service, and FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge Parkway. All of the presentations in this year's series will address some facet of water quality and quantity.
